Pinks and Corals…

AEI♥U Challenge # 29

Helloo :)

Im back with another CAS card today that I set out to make for the Avery Elle #29 Think Pink Challenge, which i thought was really fun.

I love love IKAT patterns and I recently spotted the IKAT additions set from Avery Elle and had to have it. Even though it is an addition set and the stamps are really small but I loved how they could be used in different ways to make so many patterns.

After testing out a few patterns and decided to stamp one out for the background in 3 colors, worn lipstick distress ink had to be one for sure, its one of my favorite colors, picked raspberry distress ink and Java Bean Ranger dye ink. The background is stamped on heavyweight white cardstock, cut slightly smaller than an A6 size top folding card base so it could be layered on. Corals, Pinks and Browns are my favorite combination, and with the IKAT stamp I just loved how it turned out :)

Since I wanted the background to be the focal point, I tried to keep the sentiment clean and simple and yet not have it getting lost in the background either. I decided to follow the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 251 for laying the sentiment out.

I combined the stitched circles and the talk bubbles from Simon Says Stamp with the Fancy Flourish and the sentiment from the Polka Dot Greetings stamp and die set both my My Favorite Things, to layout the card and sentiment according to the sketch. The flourish and the smaller circle I colored with Worn Lipstick and the talk bubble diecut (snipped of the bubble part) in Picked Raspberry and then stamped the sentiment in the Java Bean Dye Ink. The bigger white circle I diecut from a side with the fancy flourish die so I could inlay the flourish for added interest. Wrapped some gorgeous threaded grossgain ribbon in black and white around the front panel and then adhered the sentiment on top of it and mounted it on to the card base using fun foam for added dimension.

Here’s the completed look! Do let me know what you all think :)

Once completed I realized I could enter it in the current SSS Monday Throwback Challenge in the theme ‘A is for’ Avery Elle in my case and SSS Wednesday Wrap it Up Challenge as well.

So here are the four challenges I am entering in:

I love Ikat. I purchased bundles of Ikat fabric on my recent trip to Istanbul. Haven’t done anything with it yet though (Hoarding thy name is shereen). I did however also get some cushion covers and believe there are a couple which look similar to your card. The colors you have used look stunning. TFS.
