With Love

Hello beautiful People! :)

Hope all of you are doing well. To my Muslim brothers and sisters Ramadan Mubarak! A very blessed month is upon us all. May Allah accept our prayers and bless us all with peace. Ameen.

Artful Crafting’s Challenge 14 is live! Time sure flies! The challenge theme this time around is Rustic and there is a very lovely mood board to go along with the theme. Do hope all of you will join in on this challenge.

The kit has beautiful Maja Designs Papers from the Vintage Summer Basics and the Coffee in the Arbour collections which are gorgeous!

Every time I work with Maja Designs Papers I try my best to achieve a shabby chic feel since the papers themselves have that feel to them but I have discovered that I like a very ‘controlled mess’ look (as Jennifer Mcguire puts it perfectly) and so I dont end up with a shabby chic look at all. Need to work on that bit.

I started off by layering two of the gorgeous sheets of paper, a brown checkered pattern followed by a blue damask motif one, on an offwhite 6×6 top-folding card base, cutting down each of the layers to a quarter inch smaller than the previous to get a 0.125 inch on either side to show through.

Then using the biggest die from the Spellbinders Lattice Motifs set I die-cut one of the plainer pink sheets and then using the Sizzix Love Heart Border dies border I die-cut a pink checkered pattern sheet. Using the dark brown textured card I die-cut the floral heart die from the same Sizzix set. I really like this die, you would have probably seen me using it quite a bit, I end up breaking it apart into 4 pieces and using them as filler vines below/around my flowers.

I threaded the blue ribbon included in the kit (wrapped around the rhinestones) through the border die-cut and placed that down first on to the base layers. Then I added the lattice diecut to the right and arranged the dark brown pieces from the floral heart die. After that I took some hemp string and looped it a few times and in the last loop I added a love metal charm and adhered this down to the center of the lattice die-cut.

I then arranged some mulberry flowers that I picked from my stash around the bottom center of the die-cut, hiding the ends of the floral die-cut pieces and making sure the metal charm on top had plenty of space around it to attract attention to. I made a bow using the same hemp string and a bow with the ribbon and fixed them to the side of the floral arrangement as well. Finished off with dots of white opal liquid pearls in the lattice die-cut holes, which I should have done before adding the flowers down but too late…

Here is the finished card.

Hope you all like it :) By chance the Artful Crafting mood board turned out to be very similar (in terms of color) to the Maja Designs current mood board, and so I kept both in mind when creating my card and will enter it in as well. So here’s a chance for you to dig out the gorgeous Maja Designs Papers and enter into both the challenges together! :)

Absolutely gorgeous! I totally agree with the controlled mess thing. :)
Love the addition of mint and tea pink and those pearls add so much. Beautiful overall. :)
