Hello Beautiful

Prima Salvage District Cards

Hello again :)

Im back with another post, had meant to post this earlier in the week but was a bit caught up.
Wanted to share two cards I made mainly using the Prima Salvage District Collection that came out at CHA this year. Loved all the collections and only got around to using the Tales of You and Me, so was itching to make some cards using the others. Took out the Salvage District line and came up with two simple cards.

The cards are top-folding landscape cards and are 90% Prima*. Apart from the doily die-cuts, the alpha stickers used to spell out ‘Hello’ (Tales of You and Me), the ‘Beautiful’ Lace Sticker, and the green paper used to make the rose (Melody Collection – Open Sky, which I had in my stash and matched perfectly!), the rest is all Salvage District.

The roses are handmade using the Tattered Florals Bigz Die by Sizzix. The purple rose, the leaves for both the roses, the ‘You Are’ part of the sentiment, ‘Amazing’ part of the sentiment and the printed purple roses wreath are all from the 3×4 journaling cards. The rest of the elements have been fussy cut from the 6×6 and the 12×12 Salvage District Chateau papers. The wooden hearts are also from the Salvage District wood icons set.

When I was making these cards, I wanted to enter them into two challenges that are currently open, one is Prima’s Build-a-Page (BAP) sketch challenge for May and the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge # 9.

Here are the Prima’s BAP sketch for May, and the Tic-Tac-Toe grid for Challenge 9…

For the BAP sketch, the samples from the team have recently included cards and tags even, apart from page layouts and I thought that was really fun! It had never occurred to me that I could enter in with projects other than layouts (hope to try out layouts soon too) and so I decided to interpret it for my cards. I interpreted so that I had two side by side elements of interest that balance out each other (in line with the polaroids in the sketch) and that I did with the roses and the sentiments on each of the cards, and then I worked around those.

For the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge I chose to play along the top row, Flowers – Wood Veneers – Things that Fly. The handmade and the printed roses cover the ‘flowers’, the wood hearts cover the ‘wood veneers’ and the butterflies and dragonflies respectively cover the ‘things that fly’ part.

When I was happy with the arrangements I adhered everything down with multi-medium matt and added white splatters with the picket fence distress paint. Here are both the cards together…

I am also adding these cards to the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge which is ‘Flowers’.

Do hope you like the cards, would love to hear your views. I recently got hold of the Prima Layer and Ink Floral stamp sets and next Im thinking I will either be using those or the Vintage Emporium Collection :)

Until next time,
Amna xx
