Artful Crafting – Challenge 13 Layer it!

Hello Everyone :)

Hope you have all been fine. We received a bit of rain today and hail a few days back that gave some relief from the heat here in Islamabad. Hoping the rest of the cities get a break from the heatwave too.

Im back today with Artful Crafting’s Challenge 13 – Layer It! and we have a fun rainbow mood board for the month. So you have to combine the rainbow colors and have layers in your project. From more details and inspiration from the team do visit the Artful Crafting blog. This is the second of our mood board challenges and we hope you enjoyed participating in the first one. Many Congratulations to the winner and runner-ups for the challenge, looking forward to seeing your entries for this challenge too.

I wanted to make a card but couldnt seem to layout a ‘layered’ one, always kept coming back to some CAS versions. I thought about trying a card in a box since I had not tried one before, and I actually enjoyed making it!

I used the dotted essentials papers to cover the sides of the box itself and used the 6×6 pattern papers on both sides of the flaps. Then I fussy cut some additional layer accents from the patterned papers themselves and used those and the diecut pieces included in the kit to make the pop-up layers. I adhered them on to acetate strips to the inside dividers of the box using multi-medium matte. I didnt want them to be peeking out when the card was folded flat so I kept the heights low in accordance to that. I decorated the flaps with the chipboard frames and some more die-cuts/fussy cut accents on the three flaps.

This is how the card looks folded flat from the front side…

and here is what it looks like on the back side. I added a full piece of the dotted essentials (its plain from the back) on the back of the box for space to write the message.

This is how it looks directly from the front level, they ended up being too close together than what I would have liked but not too bad for a first try I guess…

The setting up of the ‘box’ didnt take time in itself, the arrangement did a bit and I ended up with my ‘layers’ being too close together. I guess the next one will turn out much better :)

Hope you all liked it and get inspired to try a card in a box if you havnt already tried one. My sister loved it so much, she wants me to give it to her on her birthday lol…

Until next time,
Amna xx
