Crafty Kickstart 16 – Third round of posts

Hello :)

Im back starting the third round of posts for the ‘Crafty Kickstart 2016’. If you’re just joining in, you can read all about it here. To those of you who have subscribed, please do check your email inbox, you should all have an email from me, will be looking forward to hearing back from you all.

Today I am sharing a card with you all which I just finished like an hour ago. Crafted after almost a month, my mojo is more like frozen. I had gotten hold of the wonderful ‘Beautiful Life‘ stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps before I fell ill but had not gotten around to using it. This is a newer stamp company and have a few sets out so far but all of them are amazing. I only got hold of this one and regretted later not getting hold of the rest of them. Will get them soon.

Brush lettering is not only all the rage these days but something I really love and have a goal to be at least ‘comfortable’ doing soon. I came across the stamp set and the company along the same time when the ‘sharing handmade kindness’ campaign was underway and not only just this set have the perfect sentiment to go with kindness but the other sentiments in the set perfectly complement each other too.

Now since the kindness campaign im too late for and everyone used the sentiment a lot and shared it a lot so I wanted to try something different. So here is what I came up with:

(Please excuse the awful pictures, will update them tomorrow morning :/ )
I decided to have all the bold sentiments together to make one ‘collective’ sentiment. Started of with a 3 x 4 rectangle piece of white cardstock and then rounded the corners. Used worn lipstick and festive berries to ink it up heavily and then misted with water using a mini mister and dropping bigger droplets using my hands. Then I took the stamp set and took the ‘You are Loved’ sentiment and cut it up so the ‘You are’ and ‘Loved’ were separate. Then I took the other three sentiments from the set and arrangeed them all on my craft sheet and picked them up together on an acrylic block and stamped first using versamark (to give some depth) and then using HA black ink. Then I picked one of the solid heart stamps, one size bigger than the smallest and stamped that around the sentiment a few times using the festive berries distress ink.

I wanted to have a different color combo and not just go with reds and pinks, so I decided to stamp a wood texture using the MFT wood background stamp onto some deep mustard cardstock. I trimmed it off in width to add a strip of black glitter foam sheet to one side and to fit on a top-folding A6 size black card base. I adhered the glitter foam strip first and then mounted the stamped background on to plain thick black foam so that both were even in terms of height. Then I cut another rectangle piece using red cardstock, same size as the sentiment piece and tilted it slightly in relation to the sentiment. added those to the base and finished off with a black enamel dot to make the sentiment look pinned onto the wood background.

Now once I was done, I wasnt sure about the yellow color in the back and the order of the words in the sentiment either so I came up with another version of the card too.

Let me know which one you all like better :) So next time you decide on a sentiment do try combining a few to make a ‘bigger and bolder’ sentiment instead.

Hope you liked the post. Amina will be live with her post tomorrow, followed by Jaihan.

Until my next post,

I love both the cards. Mustard color gave a whole new look, which is a good thing for me. Trying new things always scare me, so kudos to you for taking the plunge. I wanted to make few cards for craftykickstart but a sick toddler wont let me do that. So comments are all I have. Hoping i will spare some time tomorrow afternoon. Insha Allah.

When i first saw it …i was like.. ok thats pretty but not my thing xx After a bit of scrutiny the idea hit me ! .. giving it a notice board effect with the sentiment pinned ……..its so clever ! lol love it ..
In color I would go for brown … although i like bright colors but brown looks more wooden i guess :)

    Thank you for sharing

This is such a bold and beautiful card , I am more into bold so I loved the mustard combo. I love the color scheme and the distressing with water droplets and the heart stamp is so subtle . I would love to make some ATC with this technique. In sha’a Allah soon…still in a lazy festive mood. ;)
